Just a blanket....

Hi,

I thought I would tell you about another blanket that I am crocheting.  I decided I wanted to create just a simple blanket but did not want it to be too plain.  Looking at crochet stitches I came across the daisy stitch and have incorporated this within my blanket.  It looks great if I do say so myself!  I have used a tweed effect wool and it has created a lovely effect.

It is quite a straight forward stitch and you hook through the centre of the stitch and bring a loop up so you have two loops on the hook.

Then you slip the hook through the last loop from the previous stitch bringing another loop up so that there are three stitches on the hook.

Next you hook through the second stitch along on the previous row and bring another loop up so there are now four stitches on the hook.

After that you hook into the next stitch to bring the fifth loop up onto the hook.

Finally you draw the thread through the five loops and chain one to complete the stitch.  Then all I have done is to repeat this process across.

It has created a lovely effect especially with the tweed effect wool.  I will upload some more photos when I have made further progress.

Bye For Now

cushion

I finally got round to making another cushion for my bed.  I simply made a plain cushion and then used buttons of different shapes and size and sewed them on to the cushion in a heart shape.

I am going to make another one of these and then my mission to make cushions is complete.   Time to think of the next project.

We recently visited London to watch the fantastic Mama Mia show performed on stage and also fitted in a visit to Madam Tussauds.   What a great day we had.  We all had  great laugh having our photos taken with the wax models of lots of different celebrities.  Would definitely recommend a visit to both the mama mia show and Madam Tussauds if you haven't already been.

Here are some photos of the celebrities  that we took at Madam Tussauds....  see if you can recognise who the celebs are, some of them of course have some very big clues!!......................

back again soon

Worcester Cathedral and Blanket Progress

Hi,

I can't believe how busy I have been since I came back from our short caravan holiday the other week.  While we were staying in Broadway we visited the city of Worcester and it's beautiful Cathedral.  As we walked up to the building we were struck by the stunning exterior....

We spent quite a length of time wandering around the inside of the Cathedral.  We always visit the Cathedrals of the cities we visit.  There is just a lovely serene feel about them.  I personally love the stained glass windows and I was not disappointed by Worcester's in any way.

I love the bright, vivid colours...

...and the shapes of the windows.  I always stand marvelling at the workmanship.  Amazing!

The other aspect of Cathedrals that draws me in, is the tradition and history behind them.  I am fascinated by the tombstones of significant people linked with the Cathedral or city.  I find it interesting seeing the differences according to the period of history.  These are just a few of those in Worcester Cathedral.

This tombstone stood out for me with beautiful brasses inlaid on top.

If you are visiting Worcester the Cathedral is well worth a walk around.  While I was away I managed to carry on with the blanket that I am making for my daughter.  I continued making the next round of squares.  This time I chose the Octagon Tile from my favourite book "100 Bright & Colourful Granny Squares".

I managed to make 28 of these and then crocheted these on to the main blanket.  It is looking very bright and colourful now!  My daughter loves it!  It is her design and what she wanted so I think that helps!

So on to the next round ......

I will let you know how I get on.

Bye for now
